 This looks like it is going to turn out, in the end, to be Yet Another
 Project that doesn't add the CFLAGS or CXXFLAGS to the LDFLAGS and this is
 what happens.

 Most systems gloss by it, unawares. But systems like Tiger show up these
 warts, and I guess for that reason, if no other, it's good to run these
 builds past Tiger.
