 yeah, exactly, as per comment 1.

 So this looks a lot like the issue I thought we already fixed, where when
 running on a system with a 32bit kernel (which I'm guessing you are doing)
 meson gets confused sometimes about the arch you're building.

 Looking through the log, meson seems to think it wants to be building
 i386, so selects the wrong asm file. Our MP flags are forcing 64bit, which
 is what we want, but the issue breaks down when meson selects the wrong
 asm file.
