 but as usual, gcc7 gets past these. We could either do a big project and
 strip the unrecognized flags and see where we wind up, or do a small
 project and require a new compiler. You know which one I'd choose.

 This port is closed, so I can't just push the fixes. We'll need a PR for
 these changes.
