the browser was too slow to be usable. After many days of effort I was

Thank you for the reference! Yes, it sounds like a no-go. The only
advantage now is better compilers, but I guess that's not the main
problem.
I was hoping to get something WebKit-based working, since I am not a fan
of FF, and anyway it is dead.
On the other hand, both apps for secure web, Tor and i2pd, use FF front-
end.
