If the question is merely “If some users want this feature, there is a way
to make it”, then yes, sure.
But ''if Macports developers are interested'' to get more accurate
statistics, then such solution is suboptimal, to say the least.
Realistically speaking, pretty much no one gonna go that route, which we
see from data collected. Then developers get a false impression that no
one installs software, and support gets dropped. In the long run, everyone
is worse off.
