Comment (by ryandesign):

 Ports that do not offer a choice of Python version are supposed to use
 Python 3.10 at this time. On January 1 each year, the recommended Python
 version is increased. See https://lists.macports.org/pipermail/macports-
 dev/2021-December/044043.html.
