 Getting it to build on 10.6.8 was not too hard.

 Getting it to build on 10.6.8 when cctools is sending the assembly to
 clang to assemble was harder.

 Getting it to build on i386 10.6.8 when cctools is sending the assembly to
 clang to assemble was much harder.

 Getting it to build reliably on Tiger PPC and Tiger Intel without
 "Bootstrap Comparison Failures" all the time was a fairly big PITA.
