 I think so. If I recall how I got stuck on i386 and ppc, there were a few
 ghc compilers that did not properly support those targets in the late 7's
 or early 8's.

 I think (not 100% certain) that those were fixed, at least i386, but then
 there was enough of a gap in compiler versions that I couldn't leap over
 it to the newer one, and fixing the broken ones was beyond my skills /
 patience of the time.

 That is how I remember it going, from 2019, so take that with a grain of
 salt.
