I suspect this error is erroneous and you should ignore it. (MacPorts has
a global variable to store the last error message, and there are some
"errors" that occur as part of normal operation and are not supposed to be
reported, but there are evidently still some code paths where these
routine "errors" are inadvertently displayed to the user.) Pay attention
to the first error instead:
