 FYI, @jmroot has updated the compiler selection logic, to prefer newer
 MacPorts-provided Clang versions:

 After after syncing the ports tree, you'll see the change for the
 situation we're discussing here. (With the caveat that I just ran this
 test on macOS 10.13; results for your Big Sur setup might be different.)
