 this is a well-known problem involving gcc builds the past several years
 now.

 For now, the legacysupport PortGroup has a workaround to wrap the bins and
 make it work (usually). See the legacysupport Portgroup for details, and
 the fix has been used in a few dozen ports that show this problem.

 If you get it fixed and can demonstrate the fix works, I'm sure everyone
 would appreciate a PR.
