 The excessive memory usage is odd, based on monitoring of local `gmic`
 builds on 10.13, 10.14, and 10.15: While I see the Clang process consume
 plenty of memory - sometimes peaking at a few gigabytes - I've never seen
 it exceed 2 or 3gb.

 Local build testing on older macOS releases may be needed, to better
 diagnose this.

 Presently buried due to my day job, but might be able to find some time
 over the coming days. But in the interim, if any toolchain-savvy folks
 have any thoughts, please chime in!
