 The reason I ask, is that I have `inkscape +quartz` installed on a number
 of my macOS VMs - ranging from 10.8, up to including Big Sur and Monterey
 - and have never seen this failure. (Admittedly, I'm not building with
 `+debug` enabled, though.)

 We can certainly try to fix this, but is debug support necessary for your
 case...?
