Comment (by cjones051073):

 gcc9 and older is no longer supported on 10.11 and newer, due to a change
 w.r.t. @rpath in the latest gcc12, that now provides the default run time,
 and is (at this time) not supported in gcc9 and older.

 Please switch to gcc10 or newer.
