 Fantastic, it works now and hasn't crashed yet (something that used to
 happen fairly frequently with the precompiled binary).  The only minor
 niggle is that I have to start darktable from the terminal for it to be
 able to access my external hard drive.  If I launch it via the Os X
 launcher (CMD-space), it complains that it cannot access the files.  It
 looks like when launching from the terminal it inherits the access
 privileges from the Terminal app.  I tried to add darktable to the apps
 that can access all the files (via the Preferences), but it doesn't work.
 Anyway, that is really a minor issue for me.
