 Thank you. I was able eventually to build llvm-3.7 as ppc64 and rebuild
 ld64-97 as +llvm37.

 This is arguably better than what I wanted initially, however it looks
 like a real pain if someone starts from scratch (gcc-4.2 won't build
 llvm-3.7).
