 However, it does not fix the original problem on an M1 Mac, reported in
 the discourse.gnome.org bug report, which is that

 gi.require_version("Gtk", "3.0")
 from gi.repository import Gtk
 w = Gtk.Window()
 }}}
 fails with a “Trace/BPT trap: 5” error.
