 Now I'm talking here about that fortan example -- whether that is the same
 exact thing that is happening in the OP's {{{lapack-test/a.out}}} I can't
 say for certain.

 Seems tempting to think it might be similar, but that would require
 someone digging in to {{{lapack-test/a.out}}} and seeing what it is trying
 to do, exactly.
