 Thanks, you are right. I have been fooled by the obvious "ld" message.

 I removed and reinstalled XCode, the problem was still there.
 I started XCode once manually, and it told me that it needs to install
 further components.
 This seems to have been the key, afterwards the build went fine (the "ld"
 message is still there, as in the original report here).

 Thanks for your help, I've been close to file a new ticket …
