 Thanks for experimenting a general solution. This ticket is around for a
 several month. If we need some time for a more robust general solution, I
 suggest to commit the workaround before more R users stop using MacPorts.
 I was uncomfortable with the official binary: it assumes XQuartz and has
 its own Tcl/Tk.
