Comment (by mascguy):

 This goal may no longer be feasible, as later versions of Mame now depend
 on macOS frameworks/features only available in 10.14 and later. However,
 perhaps there may be a way to sidestep that a bit, depending on how the
 code is written.

 Leaving this open for now, until more investigation has been done.
