 because there is at present no accepted mechanism for ports to indicate to
 other ports that they need or support openmp generally, MacPorts has
 usually been switching it off.

 this could be fixed quite easily using the variant mechanism, much like
 x11/quartz, but nobody has done the legwork on it yet.

 Many have asked, going back 5-7 years at least, for this.

 For now, we stumble across these accidental uses of fopenmp from time to
 time.
