 Updated from `grep @3.7_2` to `grep @3.8_0` and now some of my scripts and
 cronjobs are failing with

 grep: Perl matching not supported in a --disable-perl-regexp build
 }}}

 GNU compatibility is a large part of why I use MacPorts; this departure is
 surprising

 Was this intentionally removed?  And intentionally not made available with
 a variant?
