 When updating the port to 1.00.1 I
 [changeset:3a7eabce2a8626bc9da03d9e7f4fcd5d918a4b2b/macports-ports added
 the openssl dependency] but that made the port nondistributable.
 When updating the port to 1.2.3 I
 [changeset:33a1c2eead634f13e0a6cf12da19ea02e54f79b2/macports-ports
 switched it to gnutls] to avoid that.
 Variants could still be added to allow the user to choose openssl instead
 of gnutls if there is a strong desire for that.

 Replying to [attachment:Portfile-freetds.2.diff dshills]:

 That was handled in #51636.
