 I wanted to say imlib1 is still useful as of 2023, you can build
 Enlightenment 13.3 with it and impress your friends.

 I encountered this error. and it turns out the SHM stuff was not required
 for me.
 So although ./configure detected SHM to be available. it was not properly
 working, so I just manually modified the config.h to remove the HAVE_SHM
 definition.

 boom, all working now.
