 Looks good (well I can't test the preferences issue any more).

 One thing I noticed and that might be new: when I enable just the main
 tool bar, the table of contents and the history, then the history window
 is gone after a restart. That did work in 21.02 (but had similar issues
 before testing).

 The left panel area is also a bit distorted in an intermediate stage when
 I remove the left side pandels (greek letter, math symbols, ...) one by
 one.

 I will do some more testing ...
