 It is getting better. It doesn't assert any more and as far as I can see
 it does properly store the panel configuration now. Just the panel display
 is distorted. It draws some debug messages over the greek letters and also
 in a spacer for the history and table of contents panel.

 This is also a deja vu - I have seen the same in preparation of 21.02.

 I attach a screen shot.
