 I am sorry you have to go through all the trouble.\\
 It does not do you much good now, but it is possible to get similar
 results by deactivating ports instead uninstalling them.\\
 You can deactivate all the ports (`sudo port deactivate active`), install
 the offending port, and then reactivate the other ports you want.
