 I do not know why any reference to /opt/X11 would appear in your build
 because there are no occurrences of /opt/X11 anywhere in the pango source
 code.

 I tried installing XQuartz on my system. I now have /opt/X11 and yet a
 clean build of pango did not attempt to use anything from /opt/X11 and the
 build succeeded.
