 I realize that the gdb version built on Apple Silicon Macs will be x86.
 However, the failure stems from:

 :info:build ld: warning: ignoring file /opt/local/lib/libzstd.dylib,
 building for macOS-x86_64 but attempting to link with file built for
 macOS-arm64
