 I just tried latest master (ca7efd27c86e8d7ab3a486cd3830560d671b760e). The
 preferences dialog works again, but the issue with the debug messages
 window is still there. I btw. can't find a menu option to switch it on and
 off - maybe having such an option would help to play with it. As is if I
 have anything in the left panel, it gets distorted. I also think that the
 frame window background gets distorted by it. Areas which should be gray
 are white. I somehow think the debug window becomes the frame background.
