 I tried on  10.7 MacBook Pro which has a core2 processor
 - system clang (4.2) works
 - MP clang 11 works
 - MP clang 13 works
 - MP gcc 12

 I tried on  10.13 MacBook Pro with i7 processor
 - system clang (10) fails
 - MP clang 6 works
 - MP clang 15 works
 - MP gcc 12 works


 I think there could be an issue with system detection, that is AVX is not
 enabled on core2 and/ore due to old system compiler. Or the apple clang 10
 tries to be smarter on i7, I don't know.

 Since all macports compiler work.... it is a chicken-and-egg problem!
