 According to the Bazel documentation ( https://bazel.build/install
 /compile-source ), JDK 11 is required:

 2.1. Install the prerequisites

 - Bash

 - zip, unzip

 - C++ build toolchain

 - JDK. Version 11 is required.

 - Python. Versions 2 and 3 are supported, installing one of them is
 enough.
 }}}

 Also in `bazel`'s Portfile, it's indicated that both Python 2 and 3 are
 required.
