 I tested the above fetch patch in my local repo on Big Sur.  It works fine
 for me with hdfeos5 version 2.0.

 I am now stuck on "unable to find libz" during configure.  Adding zlib as
 a dependency did not help.  I fixed up "implicit.patch" (#65288), and that
 also did not help.  I will investigate some more and ask for help if I
 can't figure it out.  This package's "configure" does some strange things
 with secondary dependencies such as zlib.

 If anyone recognizes this "libz" problem, please let me know.
