 Oh, on 10.6 it's already using MacPorts clang 11, which is much newer than
 Apple clang 900. So maybe the problem is somehow caused by older macOS
 SDKs. We do have newer SDKs available in the subports of the
 [https://ports.macports.org/port/MacOSX.sdk MacOSX.sdk port] if you want
 to try that.
