 gcc10 is unlikely to work on Sonoma unless Iain feels like spending time
 fixing it,  I think -- but this error is that same old linker error seen
 in Xcode 15 that is reported to be fixed in Xcode 15.1, which hopefully
 will roll out soon

 There is a workaround, but it's frankly not worth bothering about trying
 to implement, at least for me ... just wait until Xcode 15.1 I would say.
