 Given there's still debate about a fuller fix, would it make sense to fix
 this port for the time being? The issue has been open for 2 and a half
 weeks (and the GIMP nightly build is broken :( ). (Not trying to pressure
 the wrong solution, just mentioning some of the impact.)
