 GRASS depends on a read-writable directory {{{.grass8}}}, which on non-
 Windows platforms is located in $HOME. This is how GRASS (presently) work,
 you may file a ticket at https://github.com/OSGeo/grass/issues or create
 the directory manually with the necessary permissions (for me, by default,
 it is 755).
