 On Windows, GDAL 3.7.2 gives this

 gdalinfo --formats | grep GIF
   GIF -raster- (rwv): Graphics Interchange Format (.gif)
   BIGGIF -raster- (rov): Graphics Interchange Format (.gif)

 but on macOS version 3.7.2 the gif format is not listed.   I install gdal
 via

 sudo port install gdal +hdf5 +netcdf +openjpeg

 and this is the first time I notice lack of GIT support.  Is this an
 omission, policy change, or a new variant I must add (e.g., +gif)?

 I notice my gdalinfo says this

 gdalinfo --version
 GDAL 3.7.2, released 2023/09/05 (debug build)

 MacOS Ventura (13.5.2)
