 I can only compare to v2.7.1 (.55, i.e. master branch) I've been running
 until recently, and overall 2.10.0 is about 2x slower. Or, probably more
 exactly, *startup* is about 2x slower (as in simple commands like `port
 work`, `port dir`, `port info` etc.), to the point that I had to edit a
 number of my personal helper scripts that evoke multiple such commands and
 became just too slow.

 That however has nothing to do with the original issue.
