What? It's neither an error, nor ignorance.
As per the referenced issue, it's a very old meson "bug" that meson
appears to have no intention of ever fixing, so when this shows up in a
build, which it does often enough, you have to use the muniversal
portgroup to work around it. Bug is probably not the right word for it --
meson simply doesn't fully support the MacOS way of building universal
using multiple arch flags.
I don't know what bumper shifting you are referring to.
