 I can confirm the issue. The script just uses whatever `perl` is on your
 system, and if you have the MacPorts perl5 port installed or are on a
 newer macOS version, `perl` might be a newer perl than this script was
 expecting.

 Figuring out what the latest version is is a little confusing. The old
 project web site (in the port) links to the new project web site at
 SourceForge, which says the latest version is 2.52 and the changelog says
 this version was released in 2012. However the SourceForge project's files
 section only has up to 2.51 released in 2008. CPAN has version 2.5201 so I
 guess we should have the port download and use that, perhaps by making the
 port use the perl5 1.0 portgroup.
