Comment (by ryandesign):

 Portfiles shouldn't contain manual workarounds for the g-ir-scanner issue;
 they should include the gobject_introspection 1.0 portgroup which was
 created to handle this automatically. The portgroup was not designed for
 ports that build using meson. It is possible it has not yet been updated
 for meson. If so, someone should update it for meson so that all of the
 manual workarounds can be removed from Portfiles.
