 so it certainly builds fine for me on 10.5 PPC, and nobody else has
 reported this particular error AFAIK.

 Just trying to sort out what is going on with your system, why you are
 seeing this, whether you have modified anything on your Leopard
 installation to break this, etc.

 we can start working through the differences between your broken system
 and my working system, if you like.
