Comment:

 Perl 5.26 is pretty old and doesn't support macOS 14. You should have got
 a message about it being known to fail. This has nothing to do with your
 earlier rsync errors.

 Probably the best thing to do is uninstall perl5.26 and use perl5.34 or
 later. If perl5.26 has dependents on your system, you'll need to also
 update them to use a newer perl variant.
