 Ok, your macOS copy of pod2man doesn't understand the `-u` option. I
 verified that a local Snow Leopard machine:

 $ sw_vers
 ProductName:    Mac OS X Server
 ProductVersion: 10.6.8
 BuildVersion:   10K549
 $ /usr/bin/pod2man -u
 Unknown option: u
 $
 }}}

 The port should use a newer copy of pod2man from MacPorts.
