 I'm encountering the same issues.

 port upgrade libsdl2 failed

 macOS Catalina 10.15.7
 macports 2.9.1
 libsdl2  installed 2.28.5_0
 libsdl2. available 2.30.0_0


 'gamepad' is deprecated: first deprecated in macOS 10.12
