Comment:

 The version we currently have in MacPorts, 1.5.21, was released in 2005
 (it's been in MacPorts since 2007; see #12459) and uses gtk2 (or sdl 1 but
 we disable that in MacPorts). 1.6.0 was released in 2020 and switched to
 gtk3 or sdl 2 and the current version 1.6.2 was released in 2022. So there
 will be a bit of cleanup and modernization of the port needed to update it
 and possibly some other issues to investigate since it has been so long.
 I'm looking into it.
