Please don't misrepresent; I have not refused any reasonable fixes for
10.4/10.5 ppc.

Specifically, ppc+ppc64 will fail on Leopard and i386+ppc will fail on
10.6.8. For Leopard this ''is'' a big deal. Fix for 2.7 is trivial, but
not so for 3.x, where some rewrite of portfile code is needed – what we
have simply does not work.
IIRC ppc+ppc64 was never a supported universal combination for python.

Requiring all dependent ports to make a change is unlikely to be more
acceptable.
