 When SDK path is fed to the compiler via {{{SDKROOT}}} env var - it
 consistently fails.

 When SDK path is fed to the compiler via {{{-isysroot}}} command-line
 argument - it consistently works.

 It looked like Macports did not make the smart choice here.

 That's all I have to say on this subject.
